The Company and the Role:
The Company is a multi-award winning, family run gastro pub chain operating 8 sites in the South East, currently seeking a permanent Roving Sous Chef based from Tonbridge, Kent, covering all 8 sites so will need to be flexible on locations and the ability to be on call at short notice.
They are looking for a committed Roving / Roaming Sous Chef with a passion for good food.
As Roving Chef you will need to have that flexibility of being on call to assist in any one of their pubs that require cover for such events like holidays, recruiting or sick days.
Key Features of the Role:
All food is prepared in house using fresh ingredients and local suppliers wherever possible as well creating and developing and setting the highest standards of food quality and consistency.
As a Roving / Roaming Chef you need to be flexible in where you are required to work the environment and work colleagues.
Most importantly you must be a Roving Sous Chef with lots of energy, passion and have an enthusiastic, switched-on nature.
As the Roving Sous Chef you will be responsible for a majority of the same duties as the Head Chef such as inventory, kitchen staff management and food preparation.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience in designing regularly changing menus and embracing food culture.
Be able to motivate teams to produce consistently great food as well as the ability to manage the team to deliver the required standards of health and safety, cleaning and food hygiene.
Ideally a Chef that has worked as a relief / temp chef for at least 2 years and is very used to that way of working.
Be confident in training and recruiting new team members and strive to be the best at what they do as you may be required to be the Head Chef during your time as a Roving Sous Chef.
Have good communication and leadership skills.
Experience in ordering and stock control.
Be expected to manage costings, margin and labour costs within the kitchen.
Must have your own form of reliable transport and clean driving licence.
What’s on Offer?
Basic salary for a Roving Sous Chef will be in the region of £26,000 - £28,000 per annum depending experience and skill set.
Tips will also be issued which can be worth around £80 per week.
Paid Mileage for travel to venues you work at.
Accommodation is provided for certain locations and durations of cover.
Benefits include pension scheme, staff loyalty scheme after 3 months and childcare vouchers / Chefs Whites provided.
Standard working week is 45 hours working 5 shifts a week which will include split shifts and weekends.
You become 1st choice candidate for any unit Sous Chef or Head Chef opportunities within any of the 8 Gastro Pubs in the group.
