Brief Description:

The Crowne Plaza Plymouth has recently completed an extensive multi million pound refurbishment, and joined the Crowne Plaza family in May 2017. Since it’s rebrand the hotel has already won the prestigious Best Hotel – Accommodation Award at the City & Waterfront Awards 2017. The hotel is located in the city centre on Plymouth's historic Hoe, with panoramic views across Plymouth Sound. The works carried out transformed our property and our former restaurant into the new Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill, the area’s leading restaurant and recent winner of Best Newcomer in the 2017 Black & White National Awards. Our 211 newly refurbished bedrooms, the contemporary Drakes Restaurant & Bar, our Club Moativation Health and Fitness Club combined with some of the largest banqueting suites in the south west makes us ideal for progressing your career or joining the industry for the first time.

In this role you will be working for Valor Hospitality Europe which is part of a leading US hotel management company with over 17 properties in the UK operating a number of recognised worldwide brands with exciting expansion plans to add more hotels in the UK and Europe in the near future.

Main Duties:

The Head Chef role, reporting to the Hotel Head Chef and Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill General Manager, involves a range of duties, including the responsibility for the preparation and presentation of food for Marco Pierre White Restaurant to the required standard and ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained in the department. With a passionate desire to ensure our guests really do have a memorable experience the Head Chef, Marco Pierre White Restaurant is responsible for leading, developing, training and inspiring their team. Menu planning, ordering, achieving profit margins, stocktaking, health and safety, rosters, recruitment and administration related to the department are all part of the role.

The Head Chef, Marco Pierre White Restaurant will be passionate about Food & Beverage and inspirational, going out of their way to make sure that the guest experience is the best they could have.

Previous experience

The successful candidate must have a quality hotel / branded restaurant background in a senior role, have a proven track record in all aspects of kitchen management including stocktaking, ordering, achieving targeted profit margins, team leadership and general department management including roster planning. A proven working knowledge of Health and Safety and Food Safety practices and legislation is required. Applicants should hold a current food safety qualification, be computer literate and be able to work flexible hours
